Stain and Gunk Removal

To remove stuck-on paper from wood surfaces, apply a small amount of lemon or vegetable oil and rub with a soft cloth. Rub remaining oil into the surface.
 
Water spots can be removed with a little lemon oil and baking soda applied with a cloth covered tooth brush or a paste of cigarette ashes and mayonnaise.
 
Candlewax on wood can be removed by softening with a hair dryer, then with paper towels or scrape off with a credit card. Any residue can be removed with vinegar and water. Dry immediately.
 
Chewing Gum: Press an ice cube against gum. Break off. Or: spray with laundry pre-wash. Let set for a minute then wipe off. Or: apply cold cream or peanut butter. Wash as usual.
 
Crayon on Walls: Rub gently with baking soda and water paste. Or: spritz lighter fluid or WD40 on cloth. Wipe with clean wet rag afterwards. Or: rub with white toothpaste. Rinse off.
 
Remove black heel marks with a pencil eraser.
 
Persperation Stains: Mix 4 tablespoons of salt with enough water to make a paste. Rub paste into the stains and let sit for an hour or so then wash as usual. Or: 1/4 to 1/2 cups of salt, enough water to cover clothes in the machine. Soak an hour or so and then wash.
